SIFAT in Ecuador

For the last four years Aldersgate has been a part of the ministry of SIFAT (Servants in Faith and Technology) in Ecuador. Each summer our Aldersgate family has been an part of this ministry. I have had the privilege of being a part of this ministry in Ecuador from its beginning in the year 2000. At our SIFAT board meeting last weekend Dr. Roberto and Monica Contreras, our leaders, gave a report of the work that has been accomplished in the 15 years. Here is a summary of what you have been a part of!!!

184 construction teams 75 medical
200 VBS teams


9 training events for pastors in community development
6 Creative Curriculum Trainings for day care teachers
2 Practicum Trainings for dental and healthcare providers
1 training for health promoters for 12 members of the Tsachilas Tribe in the Amazon

184 construction teams have given $700,000 in building material
184 construction teams have given $500,000 in time (this is based on Ecuadorian hourly rate)
184 construction teams have built 5 preschools and daycares

75 Medical Teams = 40,000 children and adults in need treated medically
         A Doctors visit in Ecuador is $30.00 — medical teams dollar value 1.2 million
Protein project = 4,000 children served
Children's Surgeries 6 (3 were open heart)

14 Children preschool and day cares— membership of over 5,000 children
200 VBS teams—60,000 children evangelized
3 Spiritual Camps for 1,500 Deaf people

The teams and churches supporting SIFAT in Ecuador have contributed to: Alliance Community Organization our 14 day cares = $290,000 Alliance Ecuador United Methodist Church = $225,000
Alliance of Compassion International and SIFAT = $185,00
